Rules: List 5 facts about your most favorite sim of yours and send this to 10 simblrs whose sims you adore ♥♥♥

This is Dieter Bernhard, one of Mayberry’s five founders. Even though I love all five founders equally(ish), I’d like to introduce you more to Dieter and my canon for him.

1. Dieter’s voluminous hairstyle is an attempt to counterbalance his large ears, which he was teased for mercilessly as a child. Susann seemed to really appreciate them though, especially during woohoo.

2. An only child, Dieter learned to enjoy his own company from an early age. Even in adulthood, he wishes he’d had a sibling growing up.

3. First impressions have never been Dieter’s strong suit. It’s something he hoped college and the dorms would ‘fix’. His outgoing friends Daphne and Kane have certainly helped bring him out of his shell a little. He also never expected that a fun, popular girl like Susann would ever take any interest in him, and it did a lot to help his confidence at the time. 

4. If his disastrous engagement with Susann taught him anything, it’s that Dieter needs to take a step back and make sure he’s falling for the person as well as all the feeling around being in love.

5. Of the founders, Dieter and April have known each other the longest – Dieter’s dad is April’s dad’s boss. For that reason, they saw a bit of each other as kids, and Dieter always had a crush on April, but was far too shy to ever act on it (plus, his father strictly advised him against it). When she got married to Zack, Dieter’s congratulatory hug with April felt bittersweet.

Some of these are favorited more for pivotal storytelling than for general pretties, ie:

  • Circe descends upon Kaylynn’s home
  • Kaylynn is captive in the Beakers’ cellar
  • Lily comes to live with her Uncle Gabe after her parents were wiped out by a plague of mass proportions

Putting this list together was confronting in the sense that I have not tagged some of my more preferred characters since 2015, meaning a) I had way less time to play in 2016; b) my uberhood is enormous!!

1. What is your most unpopular ship and why do you like it?

I’m gonna go with Johnny Smith and Jasmine Rai. Sacrilege to the Johnny/Ophelia stans, but I like to try new partnerships out, and I think Johnny and Jasmine have a lot in common and are both ‘different’ enough to ~get each other~.

2. If you could only change the look of the premade sims OR make over their homes which would you choose and why?

Premade sims, definitely. A lot of the Maxis buy and build got better with EPs, but not having default eyes, and lipsets (at the VERY least) fills me with a jabbing pain in my heart

What Maxis “storyline” have you never done? (i.e. Don leaves Cassie at
the alter, or Mercutio and Tybalt fight, or Olive invites Buzz Grunt
over, etc.)

Hmm, I’m not sure. I’ve done this one once before, before I knew better, but nowadays I always cancel out Samantha Ottomas’ pregnancy.

4. What are your top 3 EPs and what do you like about them?

Nightlife- downtown, chemistry, hot tubs

Free Time- secondary aspirations, Sharon Wirth, Luis Aspir

Apartment Life- shiftable wall hangings, reputations, apartment lots (if they weren’t so buggy)

(honourable mention: Seasons, but I could play without seasons if I really had to)

5. Marry, F*ck, Kill: Pascal, Vidcund, and Lazlo

M: Lazlo. Probably the most interesting conversationalist, even if his hygiene would need attention

F: Vidcund. Because he’s so uptight, he needs to get laid.

K: Pascal. Sorry, Pascal, you’re the least interesting Curious bro IMO.

Because I’m somewhat late to this meme, I’m not going to tag anyone or make up questions. Lame, right?

1. Is there a Sim pairing you are embarrassed to admit you like?

“Embarrassed” and “like” are stretching it a little, but Carlos Contender and Chastity Gere. I suspect Chastity isn’t the gold-digging type (unlike Jessica), plus they tend to have three bolts. She rolled a want to get engaged to him in my game. Anytime a romance sim rolls a get engaged/marriage want, I get a shock. It’s an embarrassing confession because Carlos is an old tool and, for ~true love~, she can do better. But something about them kind of works.

2. Have you ever killed a Sim on purpose? Who was it?

Many times. NPCs who were annoying and crap at their jobs, superfug townies (before I learned about defaults and SimPE surgery), or sometimes just for storytelling purposes.

3. What is the one piece of CC make up you could not live without?

JUST ONE?? Oh, yikes. They’re as old as the hills, but I still use them on almost every sim: Lyran’s blushes. I could name ten more off the top of my head, though. AND ONE DAY I MIGHT.

4. Freewill, On or Off?

Always on, unless I’m documenting something quite posey, like this. That rarely happens.

5. Do you like the Sims 2 Supernatural creatures? Which is your favorite?

Even after years of simming, I’ve never really explored the possibilities of the supernaturals, so I’m not sure. I’m doing that more with my current uberhood, though. I bet the werewolves are fun. So far, plantsims are really boring.

6. Pick 3 Sims and name a color you associate with each.

  • I think Dina Caliente looks very clean and crisp in white. I think it suits her style and personality more than the canon’d black.
  • Glacial blues remind me of Elizabeth Aspir.
  • Vidcund Curious is the poster boy for a no-nonsense taupe.

7. What is your favorite Aspiration/Secondary Aspiration to play?

I like a combo that appears classically opposite, like Knowledge/Pleasure or Romance/Family. It gives sims greater scope. I have been guilty of falling into the trap of giving “noble” sims the family/knowledge combo by default. :

8. Motherlode, Yes or No?

Only if all/most of those funds go into house building/decorating. I don’t like adjusting the finances of the families by cheating.

9. Who are the Simblrs you visit the most?

trappingcrushes, for sure!

10. ACR, Yes or No?

Yes, yes, a million times yes! It keeps me and my sims on our collective toes. I can’t imagine ever playing without it.

11. What is your favorite Sims animations?

The eating Chinese food face is cute, but also toddlers when they play peekaboo. I’m still a sucker for how the sims look at each other in the wedding video, too. OH WAIT, KIDS SNUGGLING THE WOMRAT!!! TEENS/ADULTS TUCKING KIDS IN! There are so many…
