Tbh I think it really depends on 1) what ratio of playables to townies you want, 2) how often you want playables to show up on your community lots vs how many townies. Since that’s the biggest part of when I see them in my game. I would also look into how many friends each career needs to get to level 10, if high level career success in game is something your after. Not sure about specific numbers since my math is terrible. Hope the ratio thing helps!

These are all excellent points, @nekogirl52!

In short, I’d like a nice even blend of townies turning up on community lots vs playables. I don’t even know what the default rules for this are.

This secret project (which I feel is becoming less and less secret now :p) contains 27 playables. Most are adults, but there are sims of every age. In terms of career success, that’s something that I think AL groupies and downtownies can help with (and NPCs).

For me, it depends on the storyline of my hood. If it’s adult-focused, most of my townies would be adults. If it’s kid or teen focused, most of mine would be children or teens. Nevertheless, I’d personally suggest about 50 townies, 25 male and 25 female. However, it all depends on my personal needs for the ‘hood. Bonus points if I can create my own townies/NPCs.

Thanks for this @sylveonnesmuses!

What I’m working on is (in draft form) mostly adult-based, but there are members of all ages (27 sims total).

It’s purely subjective, but 50 straight up sounds like a lot. My romance sims would have a FIELD DAY with that many live bodies thrown in at once!

Thinking maybe half that and then adding viable NPCs (also creating some of them via this method), and letting the game spawn the AL groupies. That’s already 50-60 sims in the mix and I haven’t even got to the animals…

Just wondering – have you played any challenges before, like the BACC or ISBI? Or maybe themed hoods, like the 50s?

In my 12 years of simming, I’ve only played three hoods. My initial Pleasantview that I added custom (template) sims to; my uberhood, and Mayberry. Early in the piece, I got quite attached to my first hood and played it (exclusively) for over 6 years. Amazing it lasted that long.

More recently I am keen to branch out, but I still haven’t done an ISBI or BACC. Legacies kinda bore me (in theory) because I like to weave a web of characters and stories.

I’m unlikely to ever do a themed hood around a specific era because I am a trashwhore for modern contemporary.

Townie question

If you were creating a new custom hood and had 100% population control, how many townies (ages child-elder) would you say is adequate? Not including:

– NPCs

– downtownies

– Apartment Life social groupies

Just straight out townies, Goopy Gilscarbo style. As a guide, Pleasantview has around 30.

There’s no right or wrong answer, I’m just trying to gauge info for a project. TIA for your input!

replied to your post “Do you remake sims from games other than Sims 3, for Sims 2? If yes,…”

Not the anon, but the ghosts as Sim Lane 5 (original Goth residence) are called Grandpa, Grandma, Uncle, Auntie, Vegas, Cousin, Bratty and Boy.

Thanks @freemtariphe!

I never would have remembered this ever, and I can’t find any reference pics. I think that’s the answer to your question, anon – I’m not interested in this. :
