Hi all! I’m hoping you can help with an irritating laptop issue that’s preventing me from loading my game.
As of three days ago, trusty laptop’s DVD drive will not mount/load/launch any discs. I’ve tried my sims disc (yes, I still play with the discs do not dwell on this), a DVD and a CD. Same thing, every time. It goes through all the usual motions as if it’s going to launch, but then it ejects it.
For quite a while it’s ejected discs autonomously and with some frequency, but popping the disc back in always fixed it and things resumed as normal.
I have not changed any settings or updates or drivers in any way. Everything is the same as when I last launched my game three days ago.

My USB ports are working perfectly, too.
I play on a Macbook (though on a Windows 7 partition), and the same thing’s happening on the Mac side too. It definitely seems like a hardware issue.
